Super weekend to launch 2026 football season
For the first time the league and colts football competition will start the season with super rounds over the last weekend in March.
All fixtures will be held at Rushton Park in what is set to be a bonanza of matches to kick start 2026.
Each season the colts competition plays a super round due to the bye during the Great Southern Colts Carnival weekend in June.
This year to avoid a full two-week competition shutdown colts, reserves and women’s fixtures will be played during what usually has been the second week bye of the Country Championships.
To allow those who represent the Peel Cavaliers in our senior squad in July the opportunity to have a week off the bye will remain in place the week after the Country Championships for league matches and why a league super round will now be played in March.
Also, for the first time in a number of years, there will also be a full competition bye on the WA Day long weekend.
The super rounds will be launched on Saturday March 28 with a replay of the 2024 grand final when Centrals and South Mandurah meet at 11am.
They will be followed by Waroona who under new coach Rob McLean meet last year’s runners up Rockingham at 1:20pm.
The third match of the day sees Secret Harbour guided by their new coach Sean Wrigley take on Pinjarra at 3:40pm before Mandurah with their new coach Kurt Haunold battle it out against Halls Head coached by newcomer Brendon King under lights in the final game of the day at 6pm.
Colts action on Sunday March 29 begins at 9am when Rockingham and South Mandurah meet, before Waroona and Mandurah at 11am followed by Secret Harbour and Centrals from 1pm and Halls Head play Pinjarra at 3pm to round out the day.
The full fixture will be available on Play HQ this Friday*
*Game times and dates may change throughout the course of the year.
