Hiller set to retire after long stint at GM

As announced at the recent Ross Elliott Medal, General Manager Operations Geoff Hiller will depart the role after 16 seasons in the position.

Hiller is set to retire from full-time work sighting it’s time for a new chapter which includes slowing down and enjoying what life has to offer outside of football.

It’s been a remarkable level of service to the competition after initially starting as a coach with roles at South Mandurah in their colts programs in the early 2000s, and other positions at Mandurah Centrals Juniors in the 90s where he is a life member and more recently before their move into the PFNL the Secret Harbour Dockers in the Perth Football League.

He is also a long serving member of the Regional Development Council (RDC) and has also sat on the now disbanded Community Football Advisory Council (CFAC).

Hiller joined the PFNL as an administrator in 2010 and has been instrumental in the success of the Peel Cavaliers program and has overseen the introduction of Netball competitions, the PFNLW, the Tuckey division whilst in motion and has seen a number of Board Members come and go.

Reflecting on his journey as General Manager of the PFNL Hiller said “I’ve enjoyed meeting all the people that I have had involvement with along the way. I always tried to help as many people as I could because I wanted to see the clubs and the league succeed.”

Chairman Darren Dews was quick to praise Hiller for his long standing commitment including tireless hours of work, longstanding relationships built over time and a never ending positive attitude as to why he had been so successful in the role.

“Geoff has been for a long time the glue that has held the competition’s operations together. A lot of what Geoff does goes unnoticed as he doesn’t appreciate the limelight and doesn’t go searching for it. The PFNL is forever grateful to Geoff for his years of service.

“Hopefully, Geoff won’t be lost to the competition after a well earned break with his wife Deb, who will be happy to have him at home more, he can return to help play a small role in the future of our league.”

Hiller’s final day is still to be determined and a replacement will be announced in due course.
